Freedom DIES, Nasties Rise
In the name of Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Sustainability, Amen
I have long held two opinions (among many) that have never been very popular, though the evidence supporting them continues to grow.
The first opinion is that fascism is neither left nor right. Rather it is a tool box that can be used by any political caste to consolidate and wield absolute power. It is a double-edged sword that cuts both ways and serves whatever master swings it.
The second opinion is that fascism is a uniquely American export that has its roots in the 1800s, with the Robber Barons and powerful industrialists.
Fascism, despite its intractable association with Spain, Italy and Germany in the first half of the 20th century, is defined as the Unholy Trinity of governmental, corporate and media power. Corporations bny favorable legislation for themselves, while government uses the corporations to exercise powers otherwise forbidden to them. Both utilize the persuasive power of the media to befuddle and bedazzle the masses into compliance with all of it.
The reason I say that fascism is a uniquely American export, is that the US Constitution set the stage for it, the laissaiz-faire business environment provided the script, cultural Darwinism lit the scene, and the legal concept of corporate “personhood” created the actors.
The fasces is an ancient symbol, dating back to the Roman empire. It depicts a bundle of sticks tied together (known in British English as a “faggot”) with an axe head protruding. Fasces were used to build fires, a symbol of power, and the axe is both the means of creating the sticks to bundle, but also the projection of power from that bundle. Thus, the fasces is a symbol of power through unity.
The US Constitution created a central authority called the federal government, yet severely curtailed its power. This essentially built a large pyre of fasces, but forbid anyone from lighting it. It was only a matter of time before power-hungry individuals would dismantle the limits and set the pyre ablaze.
The laissez-faire business environment of the early Republic gave rise to arguably the most powerful economy ever seen. Low taxes and cursory regulations allowed businesses to thrive and created an environment where anyone with a good idea and strong work ethic could build literal empires, such as was seen with the Robber Barons. Creativity flared and fabulous fortunes were built on it.
The rise of corporate empires and the amassing of great wealth inevitably led to the industrialists wanting to protect themselves from liability, while simultanously limiting competition.
Limits on competition required favorable regulations to hinder upstarts, and the fabulous fortunes allowed the industrialists to buy politicians and the judiciary. Slowly, the regulatory system created financial barriers to new companies, and the policians tilted the legal table in favor of the elite corporations, while crooked judges placed fat thumbs on the scales of justice.
Among the great corporate powers were rising media networks. Joining forces with the industrialists, people like William Randolph Hearst were able to sway public opinion in favor of the Robber Barons, boost preferred political figures and movements, and even create wars to benefit the fledgling military-industrial complex. These media were also corporations, who benefitted from the protections and favorable regulations, as well.
Before long, there was a circle of back-scratching elites across the spectrum of industry, regulation and information, who were able to use each other’s particular talents to enhance their own wealth and status. Furthermore, they were able to do it with nearly zero risk of liability - the corporations had “personhood" and the politicans had “sovereign immunity,” all of which was handed to them by a compliant judiciary.
Concepts like racial supremacy and extreme nationalism are add-ons, but not essential components of fascism. These concepts are tools by which the fascists manipulate the masses. Scapegoating a racial or ethnic group keeps the masses from focusing on the real evil among them. Manipulating national symbols while fostering fear causes the masses to instinctively rally around the perceived center of power for psychological protection from the unknown. They are just tools.
Hitler and Mussolini were also tools. They were the means by which the American fascists were intending to colonize Europe. This is why the German nobles and the Roman families founded and populated the fascist movements. They were in league with America’s de facto royalty of wealthy elites. Every feature of European fascism - racial superiority, eugenics, extreme nationalism - were American exports.
In fact, America’s entry into the Great War was at the behest of the corporate industrialists, salivating at the prospects of vast profits in support of the war effort - that and the fact they had underestimated the might of the German culture when unleashed.
And why is all this important? Glad you asked.
We see the exact same playbook being used right now on a global scale to effect the final take-over by the corporatist elites. On a cultural, national and global level, these self-appointed elites are creating fear - of viruses, of climate, of terrorism. They are steering the fear toward nationalist symbols, which in turn are being rallied around the UN flag - same MO, bugger scale.
Racial groups are being targeted, whether its anti-white hatred, or Russian boogymen. Eugenics are being employed, in the Mid-East against Semitic people, on a global scale against anyone gullible enough to take vaccines, and in voluntary sterilization through the LGBTQAI+ movement and transgenderism. The media have been weaponized against any and all dissent, with full-spectrum propaganda streaming from every outlet. Rabble-rousing Brown Shirts are in evidence in groups like Antifa, BLM, and similar malcontents in Europe.
One can go down the list of tools employed by the German Nasty Party, and find an analog in today’s headlines, though on a scale unimaginable just two decades ago. There is indeed an Axis of Evil, but it runs through the heart of Washington D.C.
America was bequeathed an amazing gift of liberty, but through lack of vigilance, and the use of powerful deception, the wall against unbridled power has been chipped away over two centuries, until the tools of freedom have been warped into implements of great harm.
Because America is the leak through which evil has escaped, only Americans can plug it again. This will require individual awakening through study and introspection. It will require admission that even great systems can be warped to dark purposes. It will require unity of mind and purpose unlike anything the world has yet seen.
Americans, individually and collectively, have proven they are capable of great, world-chaning things, but only when they shed the hood of deception and unify in cause. The time is well passed to prove once again that the power of liberty for good is the most powerful force in our reality.
By the way, it was the German Nasties that landed on the Moon. The US only handled branding and marketing. Think about it.
