It’s 4am as I put cursor to phosphor, and it’s Saturday, which is when my thoughts tend away from headlines and to more esoteric topics.
Today, I am continuing to chew on some things I have thought about for decades - at least since the 1980s. The cud of the day is the Great Year and the hidden messages in Biblical texts, which is to say ancient texts, sinc the Bible is but a distillation and repurposing of far older material.
By hidden texts, I do not mean Bible codes and other such nonsense. If you follow the rules of that particular line of investigation, you can find “significant” messages buried in any random text of sufficient length.
What I am talking about are the astrological messages that are buried in what appears to otherwise be innocuous passages. Now I subscribe to the idea that astrology is a degraded form of ancient science. I’m not talking about the daily horoscope, but the idea that alignments of various celestial objects causes changes in the electro-magnetic environment, which in turn affects humans and our civilizations. The simplest expression of this concept are the “lunatics,” people who are deeply affected by phases of the Moon.
From ancient times, esoteric knowledge of the Great Year has been recorded in various forms. The Great Year is the precession of the Vernal Equinox (northern hemisphere) through the zodiac, though in reverse order. A Great Year is roughly 26,000 years long, composed of 12 Great Months that are about 2,160 years long. Every 72 years (about one human lifespan), the equinox precesses one degree retrograde through the zodiac.
We are currently transitioning from Pisces to Aquarius. According to many esoteric texts, this signals a major shift in humanity towards a new golden age of Truth, or Satya Yuga in the Vedic tradition. In order back to the end of the Ice Age (Younger Dryas), we have Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Cancer, and Leo. We’ll want to remember this part.
Let’s begin at our current position using the canonical Gospels found in the Bible. Jesus is referred to as the Lamb of God, to be sacrificed to end the Old Testament and begin the New. Jesus is the Good Shepherd caring for his flock, and so forth. Yet, he calls fishermen to follow him, he makes them “fishers of men,” there are several miracles involving fish - the huge catch, loaves and fishes, &c. Why would a shepherd identified as a lamb seek fishers to carry out his mission?
The answer seems clear to me. The Lamb (Aries) must be sacrificed to mark the transition to Pisces. Thus the symbol of Christianity being a fish, the pope wearing a fish-head hat, and so on. This might not seem significant until you read Mark 14:13 -
So he sent two of his disciples, telling them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him.
First of all, a man carrying a jug of water is the exact symbol of Aquarius. Furthermore, Jesus seems to be instructing his followers to look for this symbol as the sign of hope? Could it be that Aquarius marks the pouring out of Truth, the great Revelation, the Apocalypse? That’s how I read it. But still, it’s tempting to brush this aside and not read too much into it, until…
Moses went up the mountain to speak with Yahweh. He was gone so long that the Hebrews built a Golden Calf to worship, which Moses destroyed when he returned. Now why specifically would these people build a golden calf? Why do Hindus revere cows as symbols of creation and life? Why did Babylonians carve images of their kings and bulls with human heads? Could it be…Taurus?
Is the destruction of the Golden Calf symbolic of the end of the Great Month of Taurus? Could the death of the Christ be symbolic of the end of the Great Month of Aries?
But wait, there’s more…
Interestingly, there is very little in the way of Cancer symbology. There aren’t a whole lot of sacred texts about crabs, or massive statues of crabs, or depictions of powerful figures as crabs. It’s as if there was a period of darkness in the literature and monumental structures specifically around this sign.
But, moving to the previous Great Month, we have Leo, and what do we find here? Why, the Great Sphynx in Egypt, of course, and in addition - for anyone familiar with Robert Schoch’s work - the enclosure around the sphynx shows water erosion that would place its construction about 10,000 years ago, or…wait for it…in the Great Month of Leo. There’s plenty of other lion symbology, of course, generally centered around royalty and royal houses. If you’ve read some of my previous articles, and/or watched my recent discussion with Joseph Farrell, you know where this thought is going.
When one plots out the timelines and inserts the various textual clues, it seems that each Great Month ends with some great upheaval or cataclysm. Leo ended with the Great Flood, we don’t know much about Cancer (which makes sense), Taurus ended with an earthquake that swallowed the Golden Calf, Aries ended with the slaughter of the Lamb. That leads me to wonder if the global social and economic upheaval we are witnessing now isn’t part of this pattern of destruction that ends each Age?
What’s more, are certain groups aware of this pattern and attempting to guide the transition in their favor, or alternatively, prevent the transition as it would destroy their empire of deception and end their reign over humanity?
It’s difficult to find definitive and level-headed discussions on this topic. Most tend toward daily-horoscope type prognostications and New Agey feel-good philo-fantasy. We have to begin somewhere with this inquiry, so here’s a place to start. In general, though, we get the idea that the Great Month of Aquarius will be one of earth-shaking discoveries - old and new, peace and harmony - and end to the cycle of wars, and amazing scientific and technological development. In other words, all speculation points to Aquarius’ jag of Knowing (Gnosis) pouring out on humanity.
To a certain extent, this line of thinking provides a certain comfort. No matter how bizarre or violent our times are, there is something far greater waiting for us at the end of the cataclysm. This would include the pole shift scenario, the collapse of our current civilization, the rise of plasma/electric cosmology, the emergence of digital technology, and on it goes. It also includes the revelation (apocalypse) of ancient knowledge that profoundly changes every aspect of our view of ourselves - who we are as a species, where we come from, and where we are going.
In any case, we know humanity has been decimated by global events in the past. We know that the Earth’s poles flip occasionally, and that they precess through the zodiac and the precise timing of that phenomenon. We know that certain symbols have dominated certain periods in our past, such as lions, bulls, lambs, and fish. We all suspect, to one degree or another, that much has been hidden from us by various groups throughout history. All that remains is to decide whether there is a particular narrative, perhaps an external force, that drives our growth as a species.
No matter how you slice it, indicators of something big happening in our lifetimes keep popping up. Whether it’s the canonical texts of the Gospels and John the Divine, or the Vedas, or the dreams of Edgar Cayce, or the deep thinking of folks like Joseph Farrell, Randall Carlson, Wal Thornhill, Robert Schoch, Robert Bauval, or Graham Hancock, it always points toward some great collapse, followed by a fantastic rebirth in our future as a species.
What intrigues me the most is that so many thinkers and researchers from widely divergent backgrounds and education come to more or less the same conclusions with roughly the same timelines.
Certainly, a great many esotericists over centuries of time have carefully encoded this information in such a way as to form a picture only when the student has learned enough of many different disciplines to forge the key that unlocks it.
What leads me to think that this is genuine insight is that it makes sense of the otherwise senseless world around us. It is comforting to a certain degree to understand the insanity is a necessary part of the transition to something better, and that at least part of it is driven by the unimaginable forces that are intrinsic to the Universe that created us.
