My mantra to my grandkids has been, say what you mean and mean what you say.
I'll offer another word, gay...used to mean happy go lucky, remember the movies of the 30s and 40s? Of course 'movies' are the epitome of propaganda, but you know what I mean.
How about faggot? It means a bundle of twigs, and it derives from the Latin "fasces" with the same meaning. Brits call cigarettes fags for obvious reasons. There are dozens, perhaps thousands of words that have been manipulated. We don't have "blitzkrieg" anymore, now it's "shock and awe". We did away with "buzz bombs" and now they're Reaper drones. Change the words, manipulate the meanings, control the mind. I enjoy getting wedding invites to Hindu or Buddhist ceremonies. They are covered with swastikas, a good luck symbol.
Oh no, my apologies. I am persnickety about numismatic things. If Goebbels had this struck then it was likely done through the government. I don't know. I thought it was the newspaper named on the medal that did this: "Der Angriff".
When I was a youngster I worked in a public works garage. The over 200 men there, mostly straight as arrows, spent the day calling each other faggot! Primarily in a good natured & humorous way.
The way most people talk when they're "off the record" is far different from their "public" speech. What you're describing is a perfect example of self-censorship. When we don't feel threatened by public opinion or peer pressure, we are more likely to express ourselves freely. In fact, when we hear someone speak frankly or honestly, it is usually unsettling, yet that is exactly what most of us say we want.
Also, by the time I left the public library system, we could barely make it through a meeting due to language distortions. I once endured a workshop where over 70 staff members went around the room and "shared their pronouns"...
I know I couldn't sit through that without making a scene, and that it was a room full of librarians, guardians of the language, is even more disturbing. In Indonesia over 18 years, no one has ever asked me what my pronouns are--the rules of grammar determine that. If I were asked, though, I would answer "you/you/your/yours" when addressing me, and "M'Lord" when discussing me in the third person singular.
By the way, Indonesian has an interesting pronoun system. There's a masculine, a feminine, and a generic (though not neuter) pronoun: pria (he), ia (she), and dia (a person). Unless the gender is particularly important, "dia" is the most commonly used, for example "istri dia," is "his wife," though strictly speaking it closer to "one's wife". Except for the pronouns, there is no other gender in the language, like the English "actor" and "actress". Even things like "cologne" and "perfume" use a single word, "parfum". No gender-based vocabulary. Maybe the Bumbledicks should all learn Indonesian?
How about Free Market.. It’s my impression that no oil tankers have passed through the Strait of Hormuz except one destined for China. 20 million barrels a day kept from entering the global market and no plausible explanation for the price not rising to a level that would correspond to this level of detriment. This suppression of market pricing cannot last. Oil stocks will rise or it is an illusion that we are operating in a free market.
As I've told my daughter, who fancies herself a "radical" socialist, you have never experienced true capitalism and free markets. They don't exist anywhere on the planet at this time. As I point out to her, she is already living in the system she is fighting for. That she doesn't like this system is proof that it doesn't work and is anti-human. The control of vocabulary and definitions is precisely the control mechanism that most of us think we revile.
Given that hydrocarbons are created through an electo-chemical process near the crust-mantle boundary, it would not be surprising if it's manufactured in "cracking" towers and sold as a non-renewable resource to create artificial scarcity. It could be powered by a Tesla generator pulling electricity directly from the giant generator we live on. Language is the blinders we all wear but don't see.
or maybe the strait is open and it's just a lie from the jewish owned press which has figured out that they can make more money and gain more control over society by lying about that than they can by making it happen.
If the Strait is closed, it's because Lloyd's of London refuses to insure vessels passing through the area. If insurance were readily available, the ships would be running the Straits because the rewards outweigh the risks.
I wrote this comment yesterday. Imagine if the Iranians had just cause for their actions when they Nationalized the Anglo-Persian oil company in 1951, and all subsequent actions by the UK, MI-6 and the CIA have brought us to the brink. How many letters did Ho Chi Minh write President Roosevelt at the end of WW2 begging for him to keep the French from returning to Vietnam as the defeated Japanese left. Ukraine is another manufactured war. Our government knows that people have a tendency to be lazy and until your ox is gored will not get involved. The two party systems represents two cheeks from the same ass.
One doesn't need to imagine. We have extant proof staring at us from the headlines. If I line up the dots, it seems to me to be a concerted effort to bring the US to its knees by draining its military capabilities and destroying the financial system. Remember the strategy that Reagan employed to bring the USSR to ruin? Same thing, more complex.
Nice. I was never an Alice in Wonderland kind of fan, too crazy for my liking, but maybe I'll have to read it now. Didn't realize what Humpty really represented. Or maybe I'll just take your word for it and read something else. What a crazy world, for sure. Thanks.
Oh, you must revisit it with adult sensibilities. Through the Looking Glass is one of the finest subversive political allegories in the English language, right up there with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Gulliver's Travels. Check the link I provided to Gutenberg.org. It may have an audio version, as well. Carroll's books are among my favorite for the subtlety and complexity of the satire. Next we'll tackle Mother Goose. :)
Alices Adventures- both books were sprinkled liberally throughout my 9/11 Through the Looking Glass series in the Coastal Post (my paper of record for 20 years, with the original drawings (trademark expired) used as illustration for the book I published as a bound edition. Humpty Dumpty was telling the truth as he deemed it.
Humpty is a perfect example of subjective, or relative truth. He believes what he says, though none of it can be proved with empirical evidence, which is precisely how academia and Bumbledicks think (if I can use that word).
I'm late. I remember people being confused about the bizarre phases "trans man" and "trans woman". I started to tell them, think of the word "trans" being the same as "fake". Clears it right up.
Well said! The only problem I have is that it requires the same transposition of meaning that the Bumbledicks force on us. I simply correct them, saying it's "transvestite" not trans(insert sex). Transvestite literally means "one who crosses clothing boundaries". That's what we used to say back when we spoke plain English (albeit transplanted from Latin).
The fun part is that nearly all Ashinazim are Eastern European and not Semitic people in the least part (see Sen. Pocahontas). It is actually the Israelis, who are attempting genocide on the Palestinians, who are literally anti-Semitic. Your point is well taken, though.
In Latin, as in most Romance languages, "negro" means black in the masculine form (pronounced nay-grow). "Negra" is the feminine form. As far as I can tell--it's difficult to research the etymology because of the ban on thought--"nigger" is either a mispronunciation of "Niger," the river in West Africa, or a colloquial adjectival form indicating someone from Nigeria. I've seen both referenced.
My mantra to my grandkids has been, say what you mean and mean what you say.

Oh yeah, I forgot "assault weapon" or "assault rifle".

how many of us know that the germans minted a coin with a swastika on one side and the "star of David" on the other?
The entire narrative of WW2 is one of the greatest lies ever told.
Not aware of a coin. I bet you are referring to a 1933 medal. Please see: https://cja.huji.ac.il/gross/browser.php?mode=set&id=37454
yes, excuse my lack of attention to detail.
To commemorate the articles, Goebbels struck this medallion.
am I understanding correctly that this was the german government who did this?
Oh no, my apologies. I am persnickety about numismatic things. If Goebbels had this struck then it was likely done through the government. I don't know. I thought it was the newspaper named on the medal that did this: "Der Angriff".
no apology necessary, you're forcing me to be a better source of information.

Not even making that up!

I like "M"Lord"!

That's it, right there! 👍😂
More than I really want to know about strangers in cat eye glasses.

or maybe we've been making petrol via free energy machines for years and have been sailing tankers all around the world to keep people believing.

It is the insurance that is stopping the tankers, but Iran has selectively closed it to US, Israel and their western allies.
As well they should. The old saying, "You made your bed, now lie in it," comes to mind.

I saw this on youtube and can't find the author to give him credit.
Anti-semitism used to mean that you hate jews. Now it means that jews hate you.

I thought "nigger" was just the Latin word for black? Is that a false memory?

Bring back the lost verb "to haver" and maybe we can stop population declune
Ugh! Now you're just talking nonsense!
