The Borg represent the ultimate loss of individuality and free will to a totalitarian hive-mind. Corporations, states and the collective all fall into this category in which morality and ethics either cease to exist or function at the lowest common level.
The Borg are a fine example. The terms socialism and fascism, any more, are distinctions without a difference. All current political systems are moving inexorably toward subsuming the individual into a social blob, the way we view blood not as cells in a complex plasma, but as a homogenous fluid. It's worrisome to see humans losing their identities to authoritarian systems, and doing so willingly, even gleefully. I hope this trend will reverse, but that hope is fading fast.
Thanks for the excellent history lesson. The West and the U.S. in particular, is based on Christianity, Roman administration and jurisprudence, and Greek philosophy. It shows up, as you point out, in all our literature, laws, and legal documents.
Thank you and I'm pleased you found it informative. Too many Americans assume that their nation is not the problem, but the solution. I hope this rather long screed helps to open some eyes to what is really going on. The US is supposed to be the ultimate expression of individual power and authority, but it has been subverted and redirected, and needs to be corrected. Like all tools, incorporation is useful and even beneficial when its use is controlled, but it has gotten loose and has become a dangerous threat to humanity. Cheers!
Everything changes, Nothing changes. A brilliant political, historical exposure of life on planet Earth; be prepared for the last phase, the inevitable internal destruction of civilization. We’ve been there, done that repeatedly and likely will continue to expand our civilizational experience: 1984 - Déjà vu
It seems to me that the most hidden and powerful truth that empowers the crypto-elite is the knowledge that we (civilization) have risen and fallen many times over millions of years. Specific information is encoded and passed from one to the next, and those who know how to find and unlock it have ultimate power over the rest of us. Probably the wisest, most quoted, and most ignored words in our sacred texts is Ecclesiastes 1:9 -- “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done:
There is a fascinating development in neuroscience and the philosophy of mind: consciousness itself is being dethroned. We like to imagine ourselves as sovereign beings, yet a growing body of research suggests something far stranger: consciousness may be less the author of our actions than their editor.
The decision comes first; the explanation follows. Consciousness may simply rationalize choices already made by hidden processes beneath awareness. The mind, in this view, is not monolithic but a federation: a parliament, a solar system of competing agencies. The Greeks might have appreciated the irony. We fancy ourselves Zeus; perhaps we are closer to Hermes, forever explaining messages that originated elsewhere.
It makes me wonder whether our political systems merely mirror this deeper psychic structure.
We imagine presidents sitting at the pinnacle of power. But prhaps they perform much the same function as consciousness itself: providing a coherent narrative for decisions whose origins lie in sprawling bureaucracies, intelligence agencies, military establishments, financial interestsbeyond any one person's control.
Consider Barack Obama. He entered office to enormous acclaim and even received the Nobel Peace Prize. Yet his administration expanded drone warfare across several countries, with civilian deaths defended as ' acceptable collateral damage'.
Or consider Donald Trump. He built much of his political appeal by denouncing America's endless Middle Eastern wars as costly follies that benefited only a narrow elite. Yet once in office, immediately entered into another forever war, this time in iran..
No conspiracy theory is required to notice the pattern. Presidents change, but the script feels oddly familiar.
Perhaps politics is simply consciousness writ large. Both present the comforting illusion of a single decision-maker. Both tell stories of agency and control. And in both cases, the real decisions may already have been made long before the spokesman steps up to the podium.
Your point is well taken, but I don't think we need to call upon the esoteric nature of consciousness to see that a carefully hidden cabal, a global board of directors if you will, set the agenda and steer events in whichever direction they choose. The face in office is nothing but a celebrity spokesman selling the masses on the policies and actions of the state. There is no sovereignty, either at the state or individual level, though we fantasize that we have free will. Humans are essentially herd animals, and peer pressure is the agent of cohesion that keeps us all bound to the herd. Our need for social acceptance and inclusion is the basic and simple tool used to govern us in the oldest and strictest meaning of the word.
Individually, we have no agency. Our most minute decisions and actions are dictated by a simple set of rules, and it is rather our separation from consciousness that robs us of individuality. It is the binding to consciousness that activates the individual through a process commonly referred to as enlightenment. Our cultural heroes of individual thought and action are those most connected to whatever it is that we know is consciousness, but never seem able to clearly define. The enlightened ones are those who have broken free of the herd mentality, who have attained full agency, who have activated Self in opposition to the collective.
Our craving for governance is apparent. Our simultaneous revulsion to governance is our consciousness trying to break us free of it. The activated Self does not need corrals and collective approval, because it knows what it wants and doesn't need others to validate it.
Excellent! I had forgotten about the fasces on the reverse side. The symbol can also be found in the pediments of the various temples, er...government buildings in Washington DC. Hidden in plain sight, I would say.

Great response! I feel more enlightened after reading it! Sadhu sadhu sadhu!
